I tried to use the other grid, but it did not allow me to login.

I still have seven classes left to attten at languagelab. Today, Monday 20 2012, I booked a class at 10 am learning about idioms.

Now, it is a time for a class!

Above photo gives the image of the idiom called "warts and all"
Explanation of it as follow:
John and Karen had been dating for 6 months, when he asked her to marry him.  This is when John discovered that she had been married when she was younger, although she was now divorced.  Karen was afraid that John would not love her anymore, but John surprised her.  He told her that he loved her, warts and all.  It did not matter to him that this would be her second marriage.

In this photo, slide show explans the meaning of jump down someone's throat.

When her son arrived to the house late after coming home from a party, Kristen immediately jump down her son throat and angrily yelled at him. Her son quickly responded, "Mom, please, listen before you yell at me.  I'm sorry, but there was an accident and the road was closed, that is why I was late."

In this photo, slide show explain the idiom of tongue in cheek.

When Dan said he was glad that his wife's parents were coming to visit and staying at their house for two entire week, I thought he meant it and that he was being serious.  But then I realized that he did not get along well with his wife's parents, so he meant it tongue in cheek.

In this photo, slide show explains string someone along.

Dean had always told Liz that she was the one for him, and they would get married some day. When she realized he was dating another woman at the same time, she realized that he was just string her along. She had felt very strongly about him and was really hurt to see that he was deceiving her and had no intentions of ever marrying her.

Chat with classmate before leaving the class

Good bye classmate

I felt like I study in real life classroom.

After today lesson I would like to share some of my thought.
1. I feel like I learn English in real life classrom.
2. The visual used in slide show was fantastic explaning the meaning of idiom.
3. Cost less compare to study in real life calssroom.
4. It is very convenient to attend the class while I am at home.

I am strongly recommended my classmates to join languagelab. Although one may not be interested in learning and teaching English one can be familiar using secondlife and may be able to take benefit out of that using for the other purposes.

Your feedback is valueabe to me.

  1. Hey, I wouldn't mind joining language labs. Do they teach Spanish there? Since I'm interested in teaching, I'd be quite keen to know how they teach, what method and approach they use, etc. If I had to choose a language, it'd be either Spanish or French. Like we Russians say, it's killing 2 rabbits with one bullet. I'll still get to observe how they do it and refresh my rusty Spanish/French.

    1. Hi Yulia
Only English is taught in LanguageLab.
We do have this kind of expression in Thai culture, normally smart people like this kind of expression.
      Visit www.scondlife.com for further info.

  2. Another interesting blog Sunya - it would be interesting if you could include some more detailed discussion about your learning experiences - perhaps in relation to the articles you are reading - e.g reduction of anxiety, etc. These sort of things would also be useful to focus on in your final project.
